Porsche – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
When you hear the word “Porsche” in conversation, what does it conjure up in your mind? It’s probably akin to elegance, style, speed and perhaps an underlying desire to own one. One thing that is certain, they are expensive to purchase.
Here’s an interesting point, Porsche’s have a reputation for having one of the highest rates of single ownership, compared to other high value cars.
Porsche’s history is fascinating. Ferdinand Porsche initially designed off-road racing cars in the 1930′s. He did this during his spare time, almost as a hobby, but also to bring in extra cash for his family. From these small beginnings the Porsche legacy began.
It was in 1948 that the first Porsche rolled out of the workshop. Its name wasn’t particularly ambitious; the 356 Roadster, so called because it simply related to the number of the chassis. Its 1.1-liter engine, which was a Volkswagen engine, managed a maximum speed of 84 mph, slow by today’s standards, but fast for its day. Two years later in 1950, regular production commenced. The 356 sold successfully and several different versions followed. By 1956 the 10,000th Porsche was made.
However, it wasn’t until 1963 that Porsche produced what was later to become their flagship car; it was the now infamous 911. The 911 originally was powered by a 2.0-liter engine. Various versions of the 911 were produced over the following decade.
Although the 911 was a popular model, it was particularly expensive, and Ferdinand Porsche was convinced that there was a market for a sports car with a lower price tag. Working closely with Volkswagen a new Porsche, the 914 was developed. The 914, introduced in 1969, had a centrally positioned 4-cylinder engine and a completely removable roof.
Six years later the Porsche 924 rolled out of the factory. Design changes meant that for the first time a Porsche had a transaxle configuration; the engine was at the front while the transmission system was at the rear. During the following 20 years Porsche produced the 944 and the 968 and the total number of these cars produced was over 325,000.
Porsches’ 928 Gran Turismo was the only sports car to win the acclaimed Car of the Year title and was the most expensive production car produced. Despite its high price, in excess of 60,000 were sold worldwide.
In 1996 the Porsche Boxster was produced. It was the first Porsche to offer the facilities of a true open-top sports car combined with the driving comforts of a regular car. One of its features included an electric roof which could be fully opened or closed in a matter of 12 seconds, simply by pushing a button.
An historic moment occurred in July 1996; the millionth Porsche rolled out of the factory. Today, Porsche continue to produce sort after sports cars. The main four models are the Boxster, the Cayman, the Cayman SUV and of the course the very much revered 911; the model that has stood the test of time from 1963.

How the Obama Presidency Will Effect the Outdoor Billboard Industry
The election for the 44th President is over, and the uncertainty of the race is behind us. Now we face the next round of uncertainty – how this election will affect the outdoor advertising industry. There has not been a more stressful start for a President in recent times; with an unpopular war in Iraq, an economy in recession, the ever-present danger of terrorism, and a complete free-fall in home values and banking solidity. So here is our forecast for what the Obama presidency will mean for the outdoor billboard industry, and the nation in general.
- Saving The Auto Industry Is Good News For Outdoor. Obama appears poised to take an aggressive, proactive approach to trying to shore up the collapsing U.S. auto industry. He is already in talks with Ford and GM to try and construct a plan for when he takes office. As the auto industry is a very heavy user of outdoor billboards, this is a positive development. And keeping the U.S. auto industry alive and healthy also keeps competition with foreign imports hot and heavy, leading to potential increases in ad spending.
- Working To Improve The Homebuilding Environment Is Good News For Outdoor. Obama plans to use the $700 billion bank package approved by Congress to shore up the lending industry, which in turn will improve the ability to make mortgage loans (although not sub-prime as before). This will enable builders to once again sell new homes and those with old homes to be able to sell theirs and pay real estate brokers a fee. Since home builders and real estate brokers are large users of outdoor billboards, this is a great development.
- Keeping Banks Healthy Is Good News For Outdoor. One of the focuses Obama will inherit from Bush is the on-going attempt to keep banks solvent and open for business. Obama appears interested in continuing, and perfecting, this plan. As banks are heavy users of outdoor billboards, this is a very positive step.
- Putting More Money In Middle Class American’s Pockets Is Good For Outdoor. Obama has several initiatives that, he believes, will save the average American family significant cash, even if it is in the form of lower gas prices and lower health care costs. This should translate into greater spending by consumers and, as a result, a healthier environment for retailers. And, as you know, retailers are heavy users of outdoor billboards.
- Hope May Lead To Better Consumer Spending. Since consumers are the biggest part of our economy, and since Obama seems to inspire hope in the average American, perhaps they will keep on spending rather than pulling back. This may lead to a more mild recession, and that is good for all businesses. And almost all business categories are heavy users of outdoor billboards.
In summary, it appears that the Obama presidency will be good for the outdoor billboard industry. Many of his initiatives will help keep some important advertiser categories in a position to keep on advertising, and others will help instill more confidence in a consumer that has endured too much Bush. Although many outdoor billboard owners thought that McCain was important to keep the industry thriving, in retrospect, it appears that Obama might be the candidate that really has the best hope for the industry. And one thing is for sure. In a few months, we are all going to find out.

Epoxy Flooring – For Durability and Safety
If you or someone you know owns a warehouse or simply a retail space, you are aware of the effect foot traffic – during thousands of hours – can have on degrading the appearance and hastening the life of a concrete floor. It can appear oft-putting and trashy, and leave workers, customers or visitors to your business with a diminished opinion of your operation. Fortunately, a solution exists in the form of epoxy flooring. Already a mainstay in most warehouses, factories, big-boxes and industrial spaces, epoxy flooring beautifies, lowers maintenance costs and increases safety (epoxy flooring is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards) through, among other features, fire and slip resistance.
In embarking on an epoxy flooring solution, there are different options available to you depending on the needs of your workspaces: - Epoxy floor coatings are considered ideal for industrial uses that may involve indoor vehicle traffic, movement of heavy objects such as loaded pallets, and/or production lines. - Polished concrete is also ideal for industrial areas. The finish requires virtually no maintenance and will not show tire marks. Traditionally priced lower and with a less-involved installation, polished concrete can bring a classy appearance to your worksite. - Polyaspartic floor coating is a relatively new addition to this roster. Known for its quick installation and drying, polyaspartic is considered ideal for areas involving heavy foot traffic, such as retail stores, malls, theme parks and public restrooms.
After deciding what particular type of floor coating best suits your needs, you must choose a color. Most companies offer a variety of colors, from the simple whites and blacks to the more lively named ‘desert haze’ and ‘terra cotta’. It’s important to determine whether you are choosing a color based on aesthetics or safety, i.e., a yellow or red meant to designate an area as one requiring extra caution. Those wanting something livelier than a solid color can also choose from ‘color flakes’, a method that places variously sized and colored flakes under the coating to create a more textured effect. Colored dyes can also be used on polished concrete. Creating an appearance somewhere between the solid colors and the color flakes, color dyes also offer a variety of eye-pleasing choices, making them a good choice for retail floors, restaurants, etc.
After these selections you are ready for a preliminary quote, which can be done online or sometimes over the phone. For a more detailed consultation, you can also talk to the flooring companies’ representatives, who can help you better identify your needs. Apart from the aforementioned considerations about the ratio of appearance:functionality, you must also decide what length of time you are comfortable having your company’s operability paused. After installation, some floor coatings dry soon enough to allow light foot traffic within hours. Other options require more drying time before industrial tasks can resume.
So, whether you’re going for safety, functionality or beauty, consult the Internet for the flooring company nearest you. Not only can preliminary contact be facilitated via the website, but most companies also have extensive photo galleries that will help you choose an option that suits your operation’s needs.
Safety, Functionality and Beauty are all great reasons to upgrade and improve your business floor area!. For top value and service for Epoxy Flooring Chicago, or across the midwest. visit our website today! Concrete Polishing and other services available.

From Small To Large Businesses We All Have A Responsibility To Protect Our Planet
It is perhaps an uncomfortable question for some people, but it is a constructive one to ask ourselves: is today’s Green Revolution heading in the direction which will benefit us completely? Anything people try and do, even the very best laid plans, have to be fine tuned over time. Not everything in relation to today’s attempts to recalibrate how humans handle Earth is going smoothly. We’ll review several of the matters arising nowadays.
On the list of big concentrates of the current Green Revolution happens to be within the automobile business. We have seen loads of different thoughts coming toward the market, or at least being talked about: solar automobiles, battery powered vehicles, hydrogen autos, plus more. But, from time to time the ideas get a little bit, well, weird. In the event you check out the post from Bryan Nelson of Mother Nature Network (http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/transportation/stories/researchers-create-car-that-can-be-steered-by-thought), you may see a car hypothesis that’s steered not by human being hands, but by human brain waves. Think Knight Rider and you’re partway there. This is undoubtedly innovative, but is it the most effective change we can make? That can be up to each of us to decide, however some would claim that focusing on making more efficient autos might be a better first target.
Politics & regulations will always play a huge role in changes that are instituted at the mass level which influence our natural environment. As columnist Holman W. Jenkins, Jr of the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703445904576118020915591658.html) points out, a good deal of individuals discovering that some regulations designed to protect the environment are only slowing down change. At present, one can certainly argue the merits of bio engineered alfalfa for years to come, but the principle is what is at stake. Are we taking too long to make important changes? Increasing food costs can certainly make patrons less than interested in eco friendly choices. Survival tends to come first amongst humans. Or maybe we are not considering the full impact of changes before we make them? Either way, all of us make up our minds on what makes sense to us.
Whatever the mass level concerns at stake, those of us who run our own organizations and businesses have our own choices to make. Some wineries will continue utilizing an eco wine tote as that’s the type of tradition they care about maintaining and also the values they hold dear. Other firms might have to make temporary adjustments to meet bottom line interest for customers during a recession, but with eco trade show bags they give away at trade shows & as a thank you to customers, they will keep pressing forward. There are constantly options for us, even when we have to regulate our approaches.
As we have seen, there are a lot of questions left to answer as the Green Revolution presses on. We won’t expect changes over night & there will probably always be matters to discuss, although we can all still make the differences we can where we now have the prospect to make them. It really is by discussing things which we gain better understanding.
Dean Prater is an incredibly experienced journalist conversing eco and sustainability dilemmas plus educating on the principles to corporations to use eco friendly reusable bags to advertise both their business and recognition for our world.

The Biggest Lies Auto Dealers Make
Deception is everywhere and phonies are scattered all over the land. This is the reason why each one should be cautious in both their transactions and decisions. This fact is also true in purchasing automobiles. Though most of the auto dealers are honest, there are some details that every purchaser should watch out for.
When honesty and integrity are made issues, surveys divulge that auto dealer’s knuckles scrape the bottom of the barrel along with other politicians, telemarketers and insurance agents. Auto industry is riddled with liars and crooks.
Deception is almost always linked to marketing and this is said to be an activity that most people identify with a grain of salt. According to some, life is a sales game and to win it over, every strategy must be made – whether it is good, tolerable or awful. Several profit-oriented companies make profits by promoting their products and services as better than their rivals, regardless of their truthfulness.
Why do auto dealers have such dire reputations? According to analysts, the reputation is triggered by the fact that most people have their cars as their greatest single purchase other than a dwelling. Negotiable value mated to a wide- variety of options makes every one careful about trickery. The cautiousness is far higher than if a brand of apparel or food failed to live up to consumer’s expectations.
There are a lot of maverick salespersons in the business industry. But in the auto industry itself, a dealer of K & N Cold Air Intake would less likely feel the impact of hesitation than auto dealers. These crooked salespersons are thorns that bring down auto industry’s reputation to the detriment of honest individuals in the industry.
Dealership owners usually keep these maverick salespersons because they are usually seated atop the sales charts. Businessmen are saying that though reputation is one significant thing, business is still business. Unless the situation would generate a legal action, most businessmen will not avoid a goose that lays golden eggs.
Among the most common lies include price packing. In this situation, the salesman agrees with a purchaser on a particular price. Afterwards, he ‘packs’ additional hundreds of dollars onto the final bill. This is done by including finance charges to a few more dollars per month than what is required. Unfortunately, only the most astute purchasers get to notice this shrewd scheme.
Another lie is dubbed as the bill-padder or the excessive labor fees in regard to pre-delivery work like those involving larger wheels, audio system upgrades, and the like. This is easily disguised by adding several folds of dollar per month to the final charge. Aside from this, auto dealers also employ several white lies as anyone else.
The industry has its slice of shady character, same with other industries. However, various industries are swarmed by different types of people – people of character, people of integrity, people of faith and those belonging to the negative types.
According to some dealers, it is quite unfair to dub them as liars, crooks, or fraudulent doers when they are doing an honest business. They added that selling cars is a great way of earning honest income. “Profit,” said Stephen Smith, Lexus auto dealer, “is not an option, but an objective in any business and that holds true in my industry. It is as fair for an auto dealership and an auto salesperson to make a profit as it is fair to make a profit in any other form of business. There are good people in the auto industry and I am one of them!”
