VRT changes will shape buying decisions

IrelandCarTrade.com, 06.05.08

The new VRT rates and road tax changes, which come into force on July 1, will shape the future of Irish motoring, experts believe. The new regime will see most diesel cars and smaller petrol engined cars reduced in price, while larger petrol models going in the opposite direction.

Eddie Murphy, managing Director of Ireland says the changes will impact on the buying decision. “It comes down to the bottom line, like most purchasing decisions. Diesel cars are getting cheaper so more people will buy them; petrol cars, the bigger ones anyway, are getting more expensive so less people will buy them. We’ve been preparing for this ever since the Budget was announced.”
